IP Menu Privacy Policy

Updated October 16, 2026. This policy describes IP Menu 2.4 and later. Earlier versions do not include the country/ISP lookup, dynamic DNS, or app catalog features described below.

Information on your Mac

IP Menu reads local network information to show your IP addresses, interfaces, gateways, DNS servers, and related connection details. This local interface information is processed on your Mac. Preferences and dynamic DNS configuration are stored locally. Passwords and API tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain.

Public address and country lookups

IP Menu contacts ipify over HTTPS to determine your public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. The service necessarily receives the address used to connect to it; ipify states that it does not log visitor information.

To display your country flag and ISP, IP Menu sends your public IP address to IPWhois (ipwho.is). This determines approximate country information, not GPS location. IPWhois may retain request information, including IP addresses, under its privacy policy. IP Menu caches the result on your Mac to reduce requests.

Optional dynamic DNS

Dynamic DNS is inactive until you configure and enable a hostname. When enabled, IP Menu sends your selected public IP address, hostname, and the authentication information required for the update directly over HTTPS to your chosen provider. The provider stores the DNS record in your account, and published DNS records can be looked up by others. The address may be your VPN exit address when you use a VPN.

Supported integrations include Cloudflare, DuckDNS, No-IP, and DynDNS. Custom HTTPS updates are sent to the endpoint you configure. Your provider's privacy and retention policies apply. Disabling or removing a profile stops future updates from IP Menu; it does not delete records or your account at the provider. Manage those directly with the provider.

Other apps and support

The About window downloads an app catalog and app icons from jacobwhite.us. The website and its hosting services receive normal web request information, such as your IP address. These requests do not include your dynamic DNS credentials or local interface details. Opening an app or provider link uses the destination's website or App Store page, where that service's privacy policy applies.

If you email support, I receive the information you choose to include and use it to respond to your request. Do not send passwords or API tokens.

Advertising and tracking

IP Menu contains no advertising or analytics SDK and does not use data for cross-app advertising tracking. I do not sell personal information. Network requests described above support the features you use and the operation and security of the services involved.

Your choices

You can disable dynamic DNS in the app and remove saved profiles. Quitting IP Menu stops its network requests. Information stored by a third-party provider is managed through that provider. For questions about this policy or information you have sent to support, email me@jacobwhite.us.
